Enabling guest wifi in Foris breaks 5G wifi due to country code change
When I check the 'Enable guest Wi-Fi' checkbox in Foris (eg at the URL /foris/config/main/wifi/
), the underlying /etc/config/wireless
file is edited such that the country
option for each of the wifi interfaces sees its value get changed from the selected country code to option country '00'
. This has the effect of breaking my 5G wifi, causing both regular and guest 5G networks to go entirely offline and the corresponding radio0
interface to appear as "Unknown" status in LuCI. Interestingly, the country code for the 2.4G wifi is also affected when enabling the guest network, but the 2.4G network remains up and appears to take no issue here.
Editing the /etc/config/wireless
manually to store the country code & restarting the network
service works around the issue. That said, even when ensuring that /etc/config/wireless
has a correct country code set, this option still gets wiped out whenever guest wifi is enabled.
I'm on 3.11.15 but I first noticed this issue in 3.11.14 and it may have persisted since earlier.
