GitLab now enforces expiry dates on tokens that originally had no set expiration date. Those tokens were given an expiration date of one year later. Please review your personal access tokens, project access tokens, and group access tokens to ensure you are aware of upcoming expirations. This package is required otherwise many USB devices are not properly detected, and thus the smartmontools does not work as we want.

A good example is that w/o this is that smartmontools:

/dev/sdb does not work
/dev/sdb1 works

This is a temporarely workaround. I want to merge smartmontools-drivedb to smartmontools.
