I also wanted to add config tests into the github CI that we're using for macOS, but it turned out difficult to get the lua libs in there, so I gave up. (They're not in homebrew and I didn't figure out luarocks usage in this case.) The config tests will be running in NixPkgs, so there will be at least some feedback (on releases).
