OPKG seems to be using uclient-fetch if wget is not available but once wget command is on system it uses it. The problem is that we have URLs with SSL and so we need wget with SSL support but in default updater minimalizes amount of installed packages so it chooses wget-nossl variant over full wget.

These comments are effectively just repeating what code says. It should be pretty much clear from code and file name what specific include contains so no comment is needed. dnl is left in place to eat up new line character after include directive.

There is a problem with switching away from kmod-ath10k-ct on Mox as kmod-ath10k provide ct variant but not the other way around. This fixes that and allows users to switch no non-ct drivers while ensuring that at least one driver is installed and on Mox the ct one is default one.

I am experiencing huge wifi instability on my all routers. It is clear that CT drivers are no way more stable than they were when we tested them two year or so ago. Let's use standard drivers instead.

Ups this won't work because exports are exported only to lower scripts not back up so it can't be in separate file.

Omnia macs are set by u-boot so we do not need update_mac script and new version of that script does not work correctly on Omnia as it has lan0-4 and not lan1-5 as on Turris 1.x.

This creates lists that can be included in to each other. This is done by hack that original script calling one of these lists passes base URI to access sources and that is later reused. This is how relative URI should work in future but it is not completed now so we can overcome it this way and have almost same support. This also means that we no longer have to specify target branch for lists because it no longer matters. Fallback branch is for now dropped because we are not doing small build at the moment. We should in future return to them but they will be implemented differently then fallback branch is. This also does some base list cleanup.

This is true but updater now directly depends on those tools so there is no need to mention it there.

There has to be step between 3.x and 4.x version because of other reasons than updater's incompatibility. That gives us possibility to define new lowest supported version of updater-ng for 4.x releases. Thanks to that we can remove some obsolete crap. It is planned to bump minimal version of updater even higher as soon as relevant updater's release is out.
